INTEGRATING YOUTUBE AND 4Cs OF THE 21st CENTURY LEARNING IN ESL CLASSROOMS

Efficacy in learning depends on teaching instruction. A teacher must always think of means to stimulate learning in the students. Cooperative learning can be ideal as learners often love working in this manner (Slavin, 2014). Cooperative learning is an instructional strategy in which learners of various proficiency levels work together in small groups toward a common goal.

I have been embracing the principles of cooperative learning in my ESL classrooms in various ways; the teaching of writing, reading, grammar and literature. I have also integrated cooperative learning and videos downloaded from YouTube in my lessons. Why? I believe cooperative learning can maximize learners' opportunities to be engaged in the 4Cs of the 21st century learning; communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking.

How? Of course there are ways and activities that I have designed to promote the integration of 4Cs and YouTube videos. Please kindly refer to this PowerPoint presentation and the videos attached.

Hopefully, this posting will inspire you and give insights on how to integrate YouTube videos with the 4Cs of the 21st century learning in your ESL classrooms. I know you can implement it much better than me! Happy exploring!
